Can't Be Erased
Since 2021, 44 states have introduced bills or taken steps toward restricting the teaching of critical race theory (CRT), banning books, or censoring discussions about race in classrooms. These unwarranted restrictions prevent schools from teaching about the root causes of systemic racism and limit students' ability to understand and address real challenges facing our society. The threats to educational freedom continue to grow.
In response to this ongoing censorship, The Education Trust launched a digital campaign, “Can’t Be Erased” (#CantBeErased), to highlight the importance of banned books by Black, Latino, and LGBTQ+ authors, as well as materials and resources that are useful in the fight against censorship.
My team led the digital strategy for the campaign and since its launch during Black History Month (2023), the campaign has received overwhelming support from EdTrust’s audience of advocates and partners, also receiving a Gold Anthem Award in the social impact category.
