Above & Beyond Benefit
In December 2020, the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) hosted the Above and Beyond benefit, its first-ever virtual fundraiser. The event celebrated stories from the LD community and honored courageous and innovative educators, administrators, and parents/caregivers who supported children with learning and attention issues during remote learning.
I worked with internal and external teams to organize the promotions and communications strategy leading up to the event. This included facilitating press outreach, creating digital assets, developing social media strategy, disseminating email campaigns, and providing live event support.
A big challenge during the planning stages of this event was organizing communications for the virtual component of the benefit, which had live and pre-recorded elements in the outreach considerations.
I worked closely with the production and development team to identify and separate audiences as necessary. It was critical to communicate clearly with supporters and donors with the appropriate information.
The event was a success, gaining the All of Us Films production team and NCLD a Communicator Award distinction for the way the impactful stories were presented.
